Homemade Pie Recipe

On Instagram at Never-the-less She Preserved I made a video of making pear pie today (check there for a few extra tips). It was so peaceful to take a fresh harvest and make something delicious. I you want to make a pie yourself here is the basic recipe I used and you can feel free to modify as needed. If you watch the video you will notice I rarely actually measure things it’s more of a texture you are looking for.

Pie Crust: 2 cups flour (plus extra for dusting work area) + a few salt shakes + 2/3 cups shortening + up to 1/2 cup cold water.

Filling: 6 cups of pealed and sliced fruit (I used pear but you can switch for apples) + a few shakes of nutmeg + 2 teaspoons of cinnamon + 3/4 cup of brown sugar.

I hope harvest season is going well for you.
