Q-Kids: Wax Leaves Project

Sometimes you find the PERFECT fall leaf. It’s stunning and beautiful. It represents everything you love about autumn. Then it falls apart.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could make that leaf last a bit longer?

“Every leaf speaks bliss to me / Fluttering from the autumn tree.” -Brontë

Melt bees wax over heat (using a water bath is a good idea). Don’t use a pan you are fond of as this is difficult to clean up. Dip each leaf one by one into the hot wax and allow to drip dry as it cools down. Wait ten minutes before handling your leaf creations. If you want to hang your leaves you can use a hole punch before you coat your leaves to make a spot to thread some jut twine through.

Now your leaves are coated in a protective layer that showcases it’s beauty. You can use these to decorate your home for Thanksgiving or just to remember the beauty of autumn colors.

“Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn.” -Elizabeth Lawrence
