Writing

Breakup with Doubt

I just had a birthday and I’m a tad bit ashamed of my age considering I’ve still not hit it big with publishing my book. But more than that, do you ever struggle with not hitting your goals?

I know I do.

Do you ever wonder if you will become a real published author? Let’s just take a minute to settle down and acknowledge a few things.

  1. Publishing does not define you.
  2. You write for yourself.
  3. Writing is beautiful, creative, and energizing.

So keep going.

The process of writing itself takes a long time. Don’t be too worried if it takes a few years (hey it’s like college except less expensive). Awhile back I talked about setting goals but never be afraid to re-evaluate those goals. For example, having two kids now I have to acknowledge my schedule has changed. Have I given up- not at all. But I need to readjust.

Don’t beat yourself up over a missed goal. Acknowledge what is working, throw out what isn’t, and get back to it.

Happy Questing!
