Consider Jesus

When I attended Off The Wall Ministries in Ohio our theme for the year was “Consider Jesus”. The leaders wanted the whole year to be engulfed in Jesus, they wanted us to never stop thinking about Him. They desired wholeheartedly for our lives to be transformed, that we would study deeply into the word to learn more about Him, and that we would strive to become like Him.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

This morning when I woke up, I considered Jesus. I considered how the spring chill from outside flowed in through the window, how the light gleamed through, and how I was completely satisfied in Him. I started seeing flash backs of movies where Jesus was crucified, and best of all risen. The words of John were flowing through my mind; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5.

May your convictions be deep, your love real, your desires earnest. -Charles Spurgeon

Sometimes, I think I try to look for ways to not think about Jesus. Whether that’s by not looking up at the stars when I get home from work, or becoming angry that the weather doesn’t seem as nice today as I would have liked. I don’t think I have ever said to myself “why is it raining today God?”, but I have allowed the rain to affect my mood, for better or for worse. The truth is, every day I should be praying that God would show me how to look at everything in creation and be awed. I want to take one look at a ladybug and go;”wow, my God is good”. I want to be in awe of everything He is, no matter how small or unattractive it may be. His creation was created to bring Him glory and point people to Him. I challenge you to start praying for that today, you will quickly see that God is faithful.

Take today to remember what Jesus came for, what He died for, and what He rose for. Use today to examine your life, to do a double check on how you are living. Some people will try to tell you that you are failing if you question your salvation, please never believe that lie. I have questioned my life so many times, and every time I do God molds me into a person more like Him. He is my Master Potter. Sometimes in order for us to get over major issues in our hearts we have to doubt. We have to weep. We have to realize that maybe we could be doing better, maybe God deserves a more devoted heart, and maybe I have some things in my life that I have never let Him destroy or heal. Remember what He died for.
Today and everyday, Consider Jesus always.

Pray that your faith be no sham faith, but a giving up of your soul entirely to Christ. That your love to Christ may be no rhapsody, but a matter of a real heart-affection. That your walk may not be for others to see, but a walk before God. -Charles Spurgeon
