Hunting Trees & Holiday DIYs

Our family went and cut our Christmas tree this past weekend. It was a blast and I recommend the tree “hunt” to anyone who hasn’t tried it.

Not only do Christmas tree farmers provide trees, they are compostable, sustainable, and local.

Picking our tree and dragging back to the car to be loaded made my toddler giggle across the field. We stopped to look at moss, collect pinecones, and examine stumps.

Tip for sticky sap use lemon essential oil to remove!

Once the tree was up at our house we realized some lower branch pruning would be necessary to fit presents below the branches. A few snips and I had a handful of pine pieces.

I combined these with our collected pinecones (still in my coat pocket from earlier). To make a bowl of holiday potpourri for another spot in our home. Adding some lights and some fun essential oil scents to the pine cones makes this DIY complete!

How’s your holiday tree hunt going?

Happy Questing!
