The Good, The Bad, & The Changes

I’ve had the opportunity through my amazing agency Golden Wheat Literary to be working through a marketing series. The goal is to get a better grasp on our audience and make our efforts line up across our platforms. While it sounds like a less than fun experience I’ve actually had a realization this week.

I currently don’t blog for my intended book readers. I blog mostly for writers.

Before you jump ship let me say that I’m not about to turn this website in a fun house for kids to run rampant on. But I do need to acknowledge that my readers of my future books are kids. I also know that kids have little to no disposable income. So here I am thinking about the book buyers in kid’s lives, like grandparents, teachers, and parents.

Many things in my life have changed since I started blogging years ago. I now have kids (see the plural). I used to do more creative DIY projects that still get activity. I also used to travel more (return to plural). My life looks different. But I’m still writing. I have an agent now and I’ve improved my skills through practice and study. All that being said I don’t know what I’m doing with this blog at the moment.

But I’m going to figure it out.

In the coming few months I’m going to be switching up what I post about a bit. I’ll still post about writing when I think of something I haven’t done already or find some rare gem that I learned from. But I’ll be trying some more parent focused things. Things like crafts and travel (with kids of course). I’ve also started teaching an art class which is providing plenty of interesting stories that I’ll share too. Hopefully these changes will be a delightful switch up from my regular posting. I will evaluate things as I go and keep you all in the loop. So here’s to my blog changes and experimental subject matter.

Happy Questing!
