Essential Oil Blend for Headaches: DIY Roller

I have sinus headaches constantly because of my year round allergies.  One way I get through it instead of taking ibuprofen and tons of allergy medications( these all make my drowsy even non drowsy medication) is to use essential oils.  Peppermint is my go to oil because it helps me the most with headaches and helps relieve stress.  I also diffuse oils in my home to make things easier on my allergies.  If you are allergic to dust, hay, animals, pollen then it might be worth buying a diffuser for your home(I usually diffuse Lavender or Lemon).

In this recipe I used DoTerra Oils, make sure you are using 100% therapeutic grade essential oils and that they are not diluted or have anything added to them.  Please research oils before using each one if you are pregnant or if you want to use them on children make sure you are using oils that are safe to use for children.

Here is my recipe for my rollers that I have been using.

  • Stainless steel roller ball glass bottle with top 10ml
  • 10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • A carrier Oil (I used Jojoba oil)
  • Eye dropper (this makes getting the oils into that tiny bottle a lot easier)
  • Permanent Marker

How To

To create this blend I start by adding in the essential oils first and then I filled the rest of the bottle with the Jojoba oil.  If you have an eye dropper you can easily move the oil into the bottle, if you do not, it may be a bit trickier just be careful when filling the bottle.  Once you fill the bottle put the cap on and make sure its secure so it does not leak.  Now I would take your permanent marker and write on the bottle what it should be used for.

To use this, when you have a headache or even just to relieve stress, roll on back of neck and temples.  Keep out of your eyes, if you get any on your fingers I recommend washing your hands so that you do not get it into your eyes if you rub them.  I also use this blend to keep mosquitoes off of me when I am outside(apply to wrists ankles and neck).
