I recently visited Charleston and we had such a great time, I wanted to share some fun things to do if you are ever in the area.

Patriots Point
Patriots point was one of our favorite parts of our visit. There is so much history there. You get to tour a aircraft carrier, submarine, Destroyer, Medal of Honor Museum, and a Vietnam experience. It is a lot to take in, and you leave very thankful for the people who have fought for America and a little more educated. You get to tour inside the ships and actually go into the submarine which was awesome! From the aircraft carrier there is an amazing view of Charleston and the bridge and you can also see fort Sumter in the distance. From this area you can take a water taxi to market street or tour fort Sumter.

Feeling closed in, inside the submarine! Restaurants
Charleston has tons of great restaurants, several James Beard award winners have restaurants there. We visited Husk, a southern cuisine restaurant, chef Sean Brock is a James beard award winner and the food did not disappoint! If you are visiting make sure to get a reservation for this restaurant you may have to book a couple months in advance for a dinner reservation but it is well worth it!

Downtown
If you love just walking and exploring Charleston is perfect for that! There is so much to do downtown. There is much to see and the houses and streets are just beautiful! Some popular things to visit downtown is rainbow row, city market, and the pineapple fountain. There are lots of shops and art galleries to look in too, you could spend a whole day just walking downtown. Find your way to market street and walk from there, there are plenty of parking garages near there.

Plantation
If you are interested in american history I would recommend a plantation. We visited Boone hall and they did a wonderful job explaining the history of Charleston. Great for kids and adults you get a carriage ride around the property and tours of the house and you can walk through the beautiful gardens. They also have a cafe and butterfly garden on site. Its also very well known for the avenue of oaks, as you enter the plantation there is a drive through the beautiful old oak trees its definitely picture worthy!

Isle of Palms Park
The beach here is beautiful, its sand is clean and is just a wonderful spot to swim. They have areas for eating, volleyball net, playground, lots of parking it cost $10 for an all day park and its well worth it.
